Mineral Mix - Semi-Hydro
Mineral Mix is a fully mineral growing substrate designed for plants that benefit from excellent airflow, stable moisture, and precise nutrient control. Made from carefully selected mineral components, it provides a durable structure that supports healthy root development without compacting over time. This mix contains no organic material and no added nutrients, allowing growers to fully control fertilization, EC, and pH through their watering routine. It is suitable for both traditional top watering and modern mineral or semi-hydro growing methods, and is ideal for growers who want a clean, predictable, and long-lasting substrate for their aroids.
Mix Type
Available in two blend recipes:
1) Flow Mix
Contains: Pumice (Bims) + Zeolite
- Lightweight mineral mix with a highly aerated root environment
- Higher internal moisture retention without compaction or sogginess
- Well suited for semi-hydro or passive setups, including bottom watering with reservoirs
- Designed for active growth phases and responsive root systems
2) Balance Mix
Contains: Pumice (Bims) + Zeolite + Lava rocks
- Heavier mineral mix that provides strong structure and pot stability
- Fast-draining with controlled, moderate moisture retention
- Well suited for flushing and run-through top watering
- Designed for mature plants and long-term growing setups
Both mixes have a particle size of approx. 3-8 mm.

Fertilization, EC & pH
Mineral Mix is a fully mineral substrate and does not contain nutrients, so all plant nutrition is supplied through fertilization. A complete liquid mineral (synthetic) fertilizer is recommended, as it provides consistent nutrient availability and allows good control over feeding strength. Flow Mix retains moisture and nutrients slightly longer within the substrate, which helps reduce fluctuations in nutrient concentration and pH.
Balance Mix drains efficiently, making it easy to flush excess salts and maintain a stable root environment over time. For best results with both mixes, use a moderate fertilizer strength and keep the nutrient solution slightly acidic to support healthy root development and balanced growth.
Before use
As with all mineral substrates, the mix may contain some fine, dusty or sandy particles that occur naturally during handling and transport. Before use, it is recommended to rinse the substrate thoroughly with clean water to remove these fine particles. This helps ensure optimal airflow and drainage in the pot and provides the best possible root environment from the start.
