Chunky Cruesli is a premium, soilless, airy aroid mix designed for medium to large-sized tropicals like Anthurium, Philodendron, Monstera, and other chunky-rooted collectors’ favorites. With a structure that mimics the loose, organic debris of the forest floor, this mix provides excellent drainage, long-term airflow, and stable moisture retention — without staying overly wet.

Whether you're potting up velvet-leaved Anthuriums or climbing Philos, Chunky Cruesli gives your roots the breathable buffet they crave.

A new, improved recipe (v2) is introduced from April 8! This recipe is even chunkier and airier than the original v1 that was available for the past years.

What's new in v2:

• Chunky Perlite (8–15 mm) added alongside standard grade perlite for improved drainage and root aeration

• Increased ratio of large-grade Orchiata bark for enhanced chunkiness and long-term structure

• More coconut chips for better moisture retention—without compromising drainage or breathability.

Aroid mix is available in 2 variants:

• Coco Blend: Coco Husk chips, Orchiata Bark, Perlite, Coco Coir, Worm Castings, Zeolite, Activated Charcoal, Lime
• Tree Fern Blend: Coco Husk chips, Orchiata Bark, Perlite, Tree Fern Fiber, Worm Castings, Zeolite, Activated Charcoal, Lime

Addition of Lime raises and provides a stable pH value, and helps to neutralize acidity that can otherwise lock out essential nutrients. 

My personal favorite for Anthurium is Tree Fern Blend as my plants seem to love it more!

Please note that one recipe doesn't fit all needs! As each plant caretaker has different watering and feeding habits, and your environment the plants are growing in, you need to adjust your watering schedule to match the substrate and how dense / water retentive it is.

As the mix is ready-made and contains organic matter like worm-casting compost and tree fern fiber, it is supposed to be used right after receiving. It's important to keep the bag open as soon as you receive it (or ideally, stored in an open container). This is to prevent mold that can develop if the mix doesn't get access to air.

The customer is responsible for how the mix is used, including the way it is adjusted to match their watering needs.
